ROHRERS DROPS A CLOSE ONE TO BOYERS 12-11

“I believe in the Rip van Winkle theory:
That a man from 1910 must be able to wake up after being asleep for 70 years, walk into a ballpark and understand baseball perfectly.”
Bouie Kuhn.

The Rohrer’s club played their much-anticipated game with the Boyer`s club today. The latter is undefeated in the Orwigsburg Little League. The Rohrer’s club was beaten by Boyer`s with a close score of 12 – 11. The game was close for the first few innings, and then our boys made a few mistakes and again the game got a little out of hand. It wasn’t so much the hitting of Boyer`s that defeated our boys, it was the mistakes our boys made on the field. Unfortunately for our club, the batting of our heavy hitters didn’t tear things loose as is the custom of the Rohrer’s boys. But they came back anyway.

Brent Kaunas was on the slab for Rohrer’s coming back to repeat what he normally does as a good pitcher. He kept the score low but, after so many pitches, manager Grace pulled Brent and put in Dylan Biever ,our fast south paw. He once again proved himself to be the good pitcher he is.  He again brought his teammates from the dugout to celebrate his fourth home run of the season. Fantastic! At the end of the game, Nate Dixon stepped up and did a super job as the closing pitcher.

Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes!  I don’t know what we can say about that, but mistakes lost the game for us. All in all, these kids played a really good game. There were many good plays in the game and our boys were able to hit off the Boyer`s fast-throwing pitchers. Our base running was excellent. Our fielding was a little off this evening, but all in all, we did well.

Close game, boys. Let`s see what we can do next time around!
