ROHRER'S FALLS TO BOYERS A THIRD TIME 6-4

EVERY BIG LEAGUER AND THEIR WIFE SHOULD TEACH THEIR CHILDREN TO PRAY:

"GOD BLESS MOMMY, GOD BLESS DADDY.

AND GOD BLESS BABE RUTH"

Rohrer’s  vs.  Boyer`s
Memorial field, Orwigsburg    May 10
It was another one of those close games with the Rohrer's team versus the undefeated Boyer`s ball club.  Once again, mistakes put Rohrer`s on the low end of the scoreboard.
Manager Ken Grace, although pleased with the play of the club, made a post game statement to the players, “Guys, we lost because there were no routine plays. We are a better team than them if only we had some routine plays tonight.”
The game started off with our fast right-hander Brent Kaunas on the mound. At the top of the first-inning, we went down 2 to 0 because of some errors on our part. We came to the bat at the bottom of the first and Blake Lipko led off. Boyers had their fast left-hander on the mound and Blake was struck out. Up next was Dylan Biever who walked. Because of a few errors on the part of Boyers, Dylan was able to steal home, making the score 2 to 1. Up next was Brent Kaunas who  grounded out.  He was followed by big Nate Dixon, who also grounded out to end the first inning.
At the top of the second inning, Brent was on the slab and struck out the first and second batters. The third batter hit a grounder to Dylan Biever who made a quick throw to Nate Dixon at first for the final out. Manager Grace called the club over and was encouraged saying to the boys, “Make some plays and we will win the game!”
At the bottom of the second inning, Dylan Grace came up to bat and struck out followed by catcher T.J .Shappell, who struck out as well. An up and coming, good ballplayer, J. T. Fulkrod grounded out for the final out.
At the top of the third inning Brent returned to the slab. Brent let go with a fastball that seemed to get away from T.J. Shappell.  The ball hit T.J.on the side of his glove and then hit him on the forearm. He went down and was taken out of the game. Rohrer’s replaced T.J. with the left-hander, Dylan Biever.
Brent went back at it and struck out the first batter. The next batter got a double, and the following batter got a double. Brent walked the fourth batter.
The third inning brought Troy Oswald up to bat and he walked on a bunt.  Kyle Bainbridge came up to the plate and struck out .Blake Lipko, at the top of the order, came to bat and struck out as well.  Dylan Biever confidently approached the plate and smacked a hard double making the score 4-2. Dylan used this opportunity to steal third. Brent Kaunas had his turn at bat and the first pitch got away from the catcher. Seeing his opportunity, Dylan tried to steal home and got tagged out at home to end the inning.
In the top of the fourth, Brent walked the first batter and struck out the second batter. In the meantime, the runner stole second and then tried to steal third  when Dylan Biever, the catcher, threw him out at third. The fourth batter banged out a triple making the score 5 to 2.  The fifth batter got a short, hard-hit grounder to second where Blake Lipko delfly snagged it out of the dirt and threw it to Nate Dixon for the out.
In the bottom of the fourth, Brent smacked a powerful hit to the outfield for a single. Nate Dixon went down swinging for an out followed by Dylan Grace who also goes down swinging.  Matt Ross was up next and struck out to end the inning.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, our left-hander, Dylan Biever takes the mound. The first batter hits a short daisy cutter towards second base and Brent Kaunas stretches and catches it in one movement , throws it to Nate Dixon  and succeeds in getting the runner out. The second batter pops out along with the third batter bringing the inning to an end.
Top of the sixth and Blake Lipko strikes out.  Dylan Biever bangs a hard one to the outfield and scores an inside the park home run.  Next in the order, Brent Kaunas blasts a high, hard hit ball just over the centerfielder`s head and gets a single. Nate Dixon steps into the box and with two men on base he is walked by the pitcher .With Nate on base, the bases are loaded. Dylan Grace comes up to bat and goes down swinging as he does his best to drive in the runners.  And finally, last at bat, Matt Ross bangs a short grounder and gets called out at first for the final out to end the game.  The final score was 6:4 in the opponents` favor.
The boys gave it their best but it wasn`t good enough. The cranks hope for better results at the next game!
