ROHRER’S BURIES BEDWAY`S IN 5 14-3
ROHRER’S VS BEDWAY’S
MEMORIAL FIELD, ORWIGSBURG.
SATURDAY, MAY 11 2013
Well, cranks ,the half-way point has been met with our
Rohrer’s club holding on to second spot
behind the rival Boyer’s club. Today`s game with the Bedway club was a make up
for a rain cancellation last Thursday.
There was a delay of about an hour as the field had to be groomed
from the rainfall of the last two days. And after a light rain, the sun finally
peaked through to give the field a thorough drying. The club was in fine order
as the boys took the field and went right away to the bats.
Up first was pitcher Blake Lipko, who went down on a full
count. Slugger Dylan Biever was walked.
Brent Kaunas stepped into the box and, before you could blink an eye, sent the
old sphere sailing high over the fence for a 2 run homer and his 5th homerun of the season tying Dylan Biever at
5. Big Nate Dixon came to bat and was walked by some out of reach, high
pitches. With only one out, Dylan Grace drove a single into the outfield. T.J.
Schappell came to bat and grounded out to the pitcher for the second out.
On the mound for Rohrer’s
in the bottom of the first was right hander Blake Lipko, who took the first
three batters from Bedway’s down in a fast 1,2,3.
Top of the second saw J.T. Fulkrod bang out a single. Rookie Troy Oswald, making the start today,
struck out at his first to bat. Another rookie making the start was Kyle
Bainbridge who blasted out a single to the outfield. Back to the top of the
order and Blake Lipko hit a single. Dylan Biever chopped one on the ground to
second but got called at first. Brent Kaunas grounded out to end the inning.
Bottom of the second saw the first batter drive a low daisy cutter
which Brent Kaunas snatched in his glove on a diving catch and threw the batter
out at first. The next batter went down swinging. Final batter ground out to
the pitcher.
In the top of the third, Brent Kaunas destroyed the ball for a
triple. Nate Dixon blasted the cover off the ball to deep, deep center field
for a double. Both the crowd and Nate thought the ball was going over the
fence. Dylan Biever was up next and was walked. Rookie Andrew Phillips struck
out. And J.T. Fulkrod also went down swinging for the second out. Rookie Matt
Ross went into the batter`s box and drove a hard hit single for an RBI. Kyle
Bainbridge grounded out to first for the final out. This inning was a big one
for the Rohrer’s club.
In the bottom of the third Blake was still in fine form as he
struck out the first two batters and let the third Bedway player pop on out in
foul territory to end the inning.
The top of the fourth saw Blake strike out while Dylan Biever got
a double on a low flying ball into center field. Brent Kaunas nailed a single.
Big Nate Dixon got a hard hit grounder which caused Bedway`s to go chasing the
ball and make an error. The big first baseman made a stand up run to third base
for a triple. Dylan Grace whacked the ball for a single and Andrew Phillips popped
out. The inning ended on another pop up by J.T. Fulkrod .
In the bottom of the fourth Blake was back on the mound with Big
Nate warming up in the bull pen. Blake struck out the first batter. The second batter got a double making the score
8-2. The third batter got a single and the fourth batter got a triple on a hard
hit ball to the outfield. The fifth batter got a single on an over through to
first base and scored two runs making
the score 8-3. The sixth at bat grounded out to pitcher Lipko who made the
throw to Nate for the out. Up next is the big, hard hitting slugger for Bedway`s,
Jake Hendricks, who slams a high fly ball to center field. Kyle Bainbridge
makes a great catch for the out.
The top of the fifth inning sees the Rohrer`s club finish the game
off with Matt Ross getting a single and Blake Lipko poping out. Dylan Biever
drove in an RBI single. Brent Kaunas blasted out a hit to deep center for a
single. Nate Dixon drove in another run with a single to left field. Dylan
Grace hit a single. T.J. Schappell struck out and J.T. Fulkrod got a single. Troy
Oswald struck out for the end of the game giving Rohrer’s a convincing win by a
score of 14-3.
The boys ended the game celebrating their victory and looking
forward to their next game.
Congratulations boys and coaches!
