Boyer`s Pilots a Big Win Over Rohrer`s: 11-6

Boyer`s Pilots a Big Win Over Rohrer`s: 11-6

Well, cranks, I know we are all disappointed at the outcome of our game on Friday night. The boys played good baseball with slugger Brent Kaunas hitting two home runs and Dylan Biever smacking a home run.  The evening glowed with the roar of the fans as they paid homage to the triumphant home run champs. But, the glow dimmed as the club lost their momentum in the fifth inning, got behind and couldn’t catch up. Baseball can only be played one game at a time and a team can only win or lose one game at a time. As the season progresses, wins and losses will accumulate no matter what. That is baseball.
No one player on a team is responsible for a loss. The cranks will say a player missed that ball in the outfield , struck out  or there were too many errors. Yes, that may be true, but in reality there are nine players on the field, all trying their best. The reason why the team lost was because the nine didn’t score enough points to beat their opponents.  It`s as simple as that.
The Rohrer’s club was torpedoed amidships by the Boyer`s club. And the sinking actually came around in the middle of the fifth inning. Boyer`s came out hard with a good pitcher, Caleb Sophy,  a fast, hard throwing changeup southpaw and ended up with their right hander, Mike DeHaven. All this pitching prowess didn’t much matter to slugger  Brent Kaunas who smacked and  soaked the apple over the wall for two home runs.  Dylan Biever also tore off the cover of the ball and slammed one over the right field wall. Our boys had some good hits and our fielding wasn’t bad for the most part.  We held our own for the whole first three innings of the ballgame. It looked like it was going to be an interesting  game.
All in all, it’s not this writer’s call to make a judgment on our team.  Who  played good or bad is not in this writer`s purview. We were outplayed in the fifth inning. They scored more runs than we  and they won the game. It was a good game for Boyer`s and a good learning experience for Rohrer’s.
Our boys did well on the field and at the bat. Brent Kaunas, a fast, hard throwing right hander, kept Boyer`s at bay early on. Dylan Biever and Blake Lipko also took their turns on the mound. Nate Dixon, played well at 3rd and 1st and Blake Lipko was his usual active, fast self in the infield. T.J. Schapell held his own behind the plate. Dylan Grace, Matt Ross, J.T. Fulkrod, Kyle Bainbridge and Troy Oswald all did their best at bat and on the field. It just wasn’t our game.
So, this week we play Bedway`s which is another good ball club with some hard hitters. Our boys will play their best as the good, comeback kids they are.
See you cranks at the field.
