BIG BATS GIVE ROHRERS THEIR THIRD WIN OVER BEDWAYS 11-3

BIG BATS GIVE ROHRERS THEIR THIRD WIN

Monday April 15, 2013. Memorial Field Orwigsburg:

Well, cranks, the Rohrer`s ball club came roaring back on Monday night to defeat the Bedway ball club 11-3. After the shock of our loss last Friday, Coach Josh Biever , taking the helm in the absence of Manager Grace, brought the club back with a snap that seemed to be lacking last Friday.

The boys took the field with Dylan Biever on the mound. Our shifty southpaw was throwing some nice heat throughout the first two innings keeping the Bedway sluggers guessing.

At the bat, the boys did good overall.  The hits were covering more ground and these kids have a lot of confidence both at the bat and in the field. The only breaks that came Bedway`s way were from the bat of Jake Hendricks, their  power hitter.

One of the highlights of the contest was Blake Lipko’s tremendous diving catch for an out at second. A howl arose from the Roher`s faithful as Troy Oswald ran under a high flying hit and snagged the ball like a veteran. Big Nate Dixon tried to jump away from an inside pitch but took the ball on the thigh, shook off the pain and trotted to first.

Brent Kaunas relieved Dylan Biever on the mound in the 5th and kept Bedway’s batters struggling and swinging at the ether. But the highlight of the last inning was Brent’s mighty swing at a little low and down the alley pitch.  The ball and bat connected and the ball sailed over right field fence. Brent’s homer closed out the game to the dismay of  Slugger Nate Dixon who wanted a shot at the old apple.

All in all the boys  played fine ball. Andrew Phillips made his first at bat with the club and showed some fine promise. All the other rookies and veterans held their own and made a fine come back to the winning side of the fence. Let`s hope the boys can stay on that winning side. So far, so good! Congratulations boys and coaches!

See you at the next game.
